Curly Willow

I love the look of curly willow.  It’s so often used in wedding decor and floral arrangements but I think it’s great to use in your home for every day decorating too.  I have a weird little space on the wall of my dining room.  It’s just a skinny little landing.  For the longest time I didn’t know what to put there.  It looked so plain and empty.  One day I found these baskets at Kitchen Kaboodle and they sparked an idea… filled with curly willow they would look dramatic and would fill up this strange little space perfectly.

Beautiful Blue

My love of jewel tones is over for the moment.  There’s a new love in town… blue!  No matter what you call it, sea-foam, turquoise, aqua, sky blue, periwinkle or cerulean, I’m just so drawn to this color.  It works in every room of the house and it’s just so darn inviting!  It’s such a soothing, clean, tranquil color. The rooms I’ve redone recently in my house have been done in a shade of blue and they are the spaces I want to hang out in.  You can make the walls blue but there are other great ways to incorporate the color too. Take a look!

Paint your furniture blue!  When I first started this blog, I redid this dresser in a turquoise blue for a friend.  Pretty huh?

Just look at this distressed cabinet from Better Homes and Gardens and this dresser with the stenciling on the front.  Gorgeous!

Blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in  bedrooms.  Hey, maybe instead of taking Ambien, people could just paint their bedrooms blue?

Love how soft and pretty this blue living room is.  In our gray, dreary Oregon weather, this would really be a great color choice for brightening up your mood!

House of Turquoise

If only I were lucky enough to have a porch like this!  You might not really care what color your pillows were if you had a view like this one, but why not match them to the ocean?

A splash of blue in the kitchen looks so clean and bright.  You could add tile or paint the cabinets blue.  Oolala!
